App shows truck drivers the container parking space in 24 languages

They see a problem and want to solve it. In logistics, there are many things that “you've always done this way” and that you can do better. It is the same with Felix Paul Czerny and Markus Hartung. The two, who know each other from the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen, are not in the industry. Czerny, a native of France, talks about his visit to the container terminal in Nuremberg with the appropriate tongues: “I was surprised at the queue with truck drivers holding papers.” They either wanted to bring a container to the terminal or pick one up. So Czerny as a business economist and Hartung as a computer scientist told himself that things had to be better. They have now developed an app for truck drivers — in 24 languages.

The app only has two points to click on on the start page: Deliver and pick up. This should save drivers the time of manual processing and paperwork. In the terminal, the app guides the driver to exactly where he should park the container or where he should pick it up. All necessary documents are stored in the app and in the web solution behind it. The developers say that Conroo can be integrated with any terminal operations system.

TRAIN CONDUCTOR SELECTS COMPANY NAME

They came up with the name Conroo during a train ride. Hartung: “We had several names to choose from, then the train attendant came to check the tickets. We then asked him which name he liked best. He chose Conroo. A few minutes later, he came back again and said that Conroo was clearly the best name.” For those who can't remember the name right away, Czerny adds as a mnemonic: “It could also be the Franconian pronunciation for kangaroo. ”

They only founded their company last year. The Conroo solution is already being worked on 13 rail terminals. With ten employees, the company is now based in Nuremberg, Munich and Duisburg. Looking ahead, however, Czerny can imagine that another location will also be added at some point in the north. Additional employees should also be added soon.

LOGISTICS EVENT LED TO BREMEN

Andreas Jahnke, managing director for freight and logistics at management consultancy Accenture, praised the young entrepreneurs: “With your solution, a port of Hamburg might not have run so full.” Accenture has invited seven other logistics start-ups to Bremen in addition to Conroo. The event was actually planned at the very beginning for Frankfurt am Main together with the Federal Logistics Association. But Accenture management partner Sarat Maitin promoted as a Bremen resident that such an event should take place in Bremen after all. After internal clarification and a brief discussion with Sparkasse CEO Thomas Fürst, it was clear that the venue would be the new campus space in the Sparkasse administration building at the Technology Park. Here, the management consultancy has brought start-ups together with established companies such as the Otto Group or Lufthansa so that they can exchange ideas. By the way, Accenture itself is involved in 24 start-ups.
