Eurogate digitizes truck handling

In cooperation with Conroo, terminal operator Eurogate is using a digital solution to verify truck drivers. The trucker card that professional drivers have used to log on to terminals so far is gradually being replaced by the digital app solution from start-up Conroo. Starting today, the first step at Eurogate Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH) will introduce Conroo's Gate Pass solution. From May, the new process for container delivery at the Eurogate terminal is to become mandatory.

The so-called analog trucker card, which was previously considered an access permit, will lose its validity at the Hamburg location from May 2, 2024. Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven are to follow immediately, as are other international Eurogate locations. According to the company, the app solution has already proven effective at a variety of terminals and depot locations in the DACH region, including those of Deutsche Bahn, Swissterminal and TriCon.

Sustainability and safety through digitization

“We are using a solution that has been tried and tested at hinterland terminals and depots and are using the digitization of the trucker card to significantly improve terminal processes for truck drivers and for us as terminal operators,” explains Jannis Grantz, project manager at the EUROGATE Group.

The app solution supports all common mobile devices. According to Conroo, the entire process is covered, from registration and digital verification of the driver to DAKOSY trip planning (TR02) and on-site instructions. Other interfaces to the system would integrate stakeholders along the logistics chain, including TMS, platforms such as DriveMyBox, as well as depots and department stores.

Optimizing the registration process

According to Conroo, Gate Pass is intended to make the complex and paper-intensive administrative process for registering truck drivers obsolete. At the same time, the processing of travel orders is facilitated and accelerated through early information and comparisons regarding the gate and the lanes. Drivers are expected to have fewer lines and waiting times, more time for other orders and more safety, as they no longer have to leave the truck except for the loading process.
