Major changes in the area of digitized truck operations are beginning this spring in the Port of Hamburg.
Terminal operator Eurogate has teamed up with startup Conroo to introduce intelligent access software and facilitate combined transport at the Hamburg CTH container terminal. The use of the digital solution will soon be mandatory and will gradually be introduced at other German terminals of this operator as well.
Every day, an average of 3,500 trucks travel to the Eurogate Group's container terminals in Germany to deliver or pick up containers. The company commissioned the startup Conroo, which deals with the digital management of container terminals, depots and warehouses, to develop a solution that should make work easier. The result is an application called “Gate Pass” for seaport terminals, which identifies truck drivers at the pickup or delivery point and guarantees that work is done without delay.
The previous method of access with an ordinary card, the so-called trucker card, which truck drivers used to register at the terminal, will no longer be valid at the Eurogate terminal in Hamburg from May 2. It is replaced by the Conroo Gate Pass.
From spring 2024, the digital solution will be gradually introduced at all German terminals, including Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven, and soon also at Eurogate's international locations.
“By implementing the Conroo solution at various locations, we are setting new standards for the entire Eurogate Group. We are also sending an important signal to other maritime and inland ports. Ultimately, everyone can benefit from a more efficient exchange of information along the entire supply chain,” explained Michael Blach, CEO of the EUROGATE Group.
As reported by the portal trans.info, one of the main reasons for implementing this solution is the need to increase security during the process at container terminals. The app works on all mobile devices and covers the entire journey, from registration and full digital verification of truck drivers to Dakosa route planning (TR02) and provides on-site instructions. According to reports, Dakosa's slot reservation process, which is already being used in Hamburg and Bremerhaven, is also being integrated into the digital truck driver card.
