APM Terminals Rijeka Gateway is introducing app-based digital truck processing in partnership with CONROO, enabling fully digital and contactless truck handling at its new container terminal. The implementation supports Rijeka Gateway’s vision as the Adriatic’s first fully remote-operated container terminal.
With the introduction of CONROO’s solution, all truck visits to the terminal are managed digitally. From pre-announcement and gate access to on-yard coordination, the entire landside process is handled through a single interface: the driver’s smartphone.
Using the CONROO app, truck drivers can complete their terminal visit without paper documents, plastic access cards, or physical pre-gates. Drivers check in remotely, receive secure digital credentials, and are guided step by step through the terminal yard via their mobile device.
Throughout the visit, drivers remain connected with terminal operators through in-app voice communication, ensuring clear instructions and real-time coordination in a highly automated terminal environment.
The digital workflow enables the terminal to use real-time truck position data both before arrival and during yard operations. This improves traffic management, enhances safety, and supports efficient coordination in an autonomous and remote-operated setting.
By integrating truck drivers directly into digital terminal processes, the solution reduces waiting times, minimizes congestion, and creates a more predictable flow of vehicles across the terminal.
The app-based truck handling process is designed to complement Rijeka Gateway’s electrified and remote-controlled infrastructure. By digitizing landside operations end to end, the terminal benefits from smoother truck movements, reduced idle times, and improved environmental performance.
