Digital truck handling in Hamburg. Starting from March 20th, the terminal operator Eurogate is implementing a smart access software from the start-up Conroo, which is intended to facilitate combined traffic at the Container Terminal Hamburg (CTH) and will be mandatory from May onwards.

On average, 3,500 trucks daily navigate through the container terminals of the Eurogate Group in Germany to deliver or pick up containers. The Conroo, a specialist in digital processing at container terminals, depots, and warehouses, which launched in the hinterland in 2021, is led by Markus Hartung and Felix Paul Czerny.

In coordination with Eurogate, the young company has further developed a new function called “Gate Pass” for the processes at the seaport terminals. The digital solution serves for the identification of truck drivers at the pick-up or delivery location and guarantees entry and exit without delays.

Smart App Instead of Plastic Card

The existing access authorization, the analog trucker card used by truck drivers to register at the terminal, will lose its validity at the Eurogate location in Hamburg on May 2, 2024, and will be replaced by the Conroo Gate Pass. From spring 2024, the digital solution is planned to be gradually introduced at all German terminal locations, including Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven. And the international locations of Eurogate are also expected to follow suit.

“We are taking more than just one step forward today. By implementing the Conroo solution across locations, we are setting new standards for the entire Eurogate Group. However, this also sends a signal to other sea and hinterland terminals. Ultimately, everyone can benefit from more efficient information exchange along the entire supply chain,” explains Michael Blach, Chairman of the Group Management Board of the Eurogate Group.
