The new app from Bavarian startup CONROO should encourage more companies to use the German rail network to transport freight. This new technology was presented by German train company Deutsche Bahn AG at the freight terminal in Munich-Riem.

Speed and efficiency are key in the logistics industry, but the movement of trucks in Rail freight terminals are subject to slowdowns, especially with high demand. In an effort to speed up this process, CONROO’s new application will help transporters work more efficiently at terminals. According to the startup, truck drivers can check the status of their cargo at any time via the application.

In this way, the driver can book a loading time on his cell phone and thus avoid peak hours at the terminal. In addition, the digital data exchange between the terminal and the transporters should make the handling of goods faster.

The German rail infrastructure company Deutsche Umschlaggesellschaft Schiene – Straße (DUSS), one of the largest suppliers in Germany, has already tested the application. According to the company, the digital organization of logistics helps with fast processing and is good for the economy, prosperity, and the climate.

Allianz Pro Schiene, an independent, non-profit German association for the promotion of safe and sustainable road transport is pleased with the innovations in rail transport.  Rail freight transport is expected to reach 25 percent by 2030 – currently the figure is 18 percent nationwide.
